Negativity of Satire

Unfortunately, we need to talk about the criticisms of satire. Sometimes, it could hurt someone even when they're not trying to. Other satirists can cross the line twice, but crosses it so much it rips the line. I won't go into too much detail about all of those "adult" jokes, (not just because that I could get expelled) but let's just say doing it over and over, ironically makes it more childish. The worst satirist is Seltzerburg, because of the random movie references. But then there are satirists that used to be good but jumped the shark, just expect some people to lose their touch.

Musical Parodies

This is one that can be played anywhere. In movies, TV, and the radio. It seems that this topic is interpreted differently than movies. Sometimes it's the same song with different lyrics, other times it sounds like the song with altered chords. They can either sound good or bad, it depends on the topics involved. The only popular writer of parody music is Weird Al Yankovic. Me personally, I hope there is an Animated Musical Satire.

Pop Culture References

Pop culture references seems to be the one that's frequently used in TV and movies nowadays. Whether it's just a simple reference to a scene, or just parodying an entire movie. Pop culture references can be done well if they know their audience. The ones that don't worked are just forced or are stuff that the target audience would never understand or has nothing to do with the genre and doesn't blend in well to the movie. If one lists some satirists who makes movies, it could be way too long. They're that popular. Every one has done it. You, your grandma, even me!

Political Satire

We'll start with Political Satire, the earliest form of Satire. It may have been made since the egyptian times, but this was the most popular piece of satire during the Enlightenment Period. There are many famous works based on politics and society, such as Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift, those political cartoons you see in newspapers, as well as news shows like Steven Colbert. The joke depends on what side you are in, if you are a republican or democratic. But they do give a message about what is going and political satire reflects that.

This is made for my Language Arts Class, so if you comment on this blog, just remember, no cussing or bad words, i don't want to get in trouble. This will cover different types of satire, how it's used, and the criticisms of these methods of making you laugh. This won't last long because it's a class project. So enjoy my views on satire until it's unnecessary.
